MERA, the Mobile Electronics Retailers Association and sponsor of KnowledgeFest, hopes the viral appeal of Obama Girl, Amber Lee Ettinger, might help shed a spotlight on car audio.

It is tapping Ettinger (who also appears on the web as “Gadget Girl”) as a possible spokesman and “celebrity face” for a new web portal that will teach consumers about car audio.

Ettinger and MERA have not yet inked a deal but are exploring such an arrangement.  Ettinger appeared at KnowledgeFest where she handed out the Mobile Electronics Magazine 2012 Industry Awards and appeared in numerous manufacturer booths.

The new web site will show the car audio products that various manufacturers offer and which retailers sell them.

“It will allow the specialist retailer to have a national footprint on the Internet in a way they can compete with Amazon and other web sites,” said MERA President Chris Cook.

Further details, including a launch date for the site, have yet to be announced.
