Metra is shipping about a dozen new car radio installation kits including the only kit now available for ’03 to ’07 Nissan Murano vehicles, said Metra.

The Murano kit replaces the entire climate control panel, which is linked to the radio, while retaining HVAC functions. “We produced our own button panel, printed circuit boards, rubber buttons and the style and design of the controls to replace the factory climate controls and driver information center,” said Metra Director of Research and Technical Services Colin Ehrhardt. The kit is available in silver or black.
Metra is not only working on kits for new cars but improving past kits for older vehicles. “With the change in double DIN popularity and radio design, we’re going back and rebuilding applications that we already had with a better adaptation. We did that this year with about 10 out of 40 kits,” added Ehrhardt.

Other Nissan kits now shipping are for the Rogue (2011 and newer), Versa (2011 and newer) , and Sentra (2007 and newer/2000-2006).
For the 2012 Fiat 500 is a new single DIN radio kit with an ISO mount quick-release system and trim ring. It’s available in matte black or white.
New kits are also available for the late model Hyundai Accent and 2011 and newer Elantras.
Also shipping are an improved Toyota Tacoma dash kit for model years 2005 to 2011, a kit for all Scion models for 2004 and higher, and a kit for model year 2000 to 2005 Saturns plus a kit for a 2004 to 2009 Lexus RX330/350/400H.
