Hybrid Audio Technologies, maker of car audio speakers  since 2005, said it is adding 20 new speakers, effectively doubling its line.

Shipping now or this month are two new lines of products including an entry-level Mirus line of coaxials priced at about $150 a set and a new line of Unity “super high performance” component speakers priced at about $350 a set.

The company claims it has been growing by high double digits since its inception charting 75 percent growth this year, 39 percent growth last year and 43 percent growth the year prior.

Mirus is latin for “astonishing,” say Hybrid.   The new Mirus line is for users who want to replace their OEM speakers.  The speakers use waterproof paper cones in sizes of in 4-inch, 5 ¼-inch, 6 ½-inch, 5 X 7-inch, and 6 X 9-inches.

The Unity speakers use many of the same features found in the company’s higher end Clarus line including the same tweeters and similar outboard crossovers.  The crossovers use high quality capacitors and PTC tweeter power protection, and three steps of tweeter attenuation. They are encased in the Clarus competition housing with gold-plated screw terminals.

Also new are speakers in Hybrid’s four other speaker lines.

As for amplifiers, the company may enter that segment within 3 years, said founder Scott Buwalda.

  1. I’ve already installed a pair of Mirus 6″ into one of my installers’ car. we were all really impressed with the accuracy of the sound that emenated from these price point offerings of Hybrid. They reproduced the music better than other speakers that we sell in that price range and the one above it.
I don’t know how they do it, but as long as Hybrid Audio is producing speakers like these, I will sell them to my customers, friends & employees.
