Pioneer Electronics said it expects minor shortages in 2012 car audio models due the flooding in Thailand this past summer.
As you may remember, Thailand underwent the worst floods in 50 years, and in many areas, the flood waters have yet to recede.
Pioneer has two factories located in the impacted regions and they are expected to remain closed for a short period of time, it said.
Pioneer’s Larry Rougas told us in an email, “As early as last month, we have taken measures to increase production in several of our other factories located in China, Malaysia and Japan. Although we are fortunate to have the manufacturing capacity to help recover from the temporary loss of our Thailand production, we do expect minor product shortages on some of our 2012 models.”
Rougas who is senior VP for Marketing, Product Planning and Sales Planning for Car Electronics added, “Regardless, we are doing everything in our power to minimize the flood impact and ensure we have the ability to meet market demands for Pioneer products.”
Pioneer’s factories in Thailand include the Pioneer Manufacturing (Thailand) Company Limited and Tohoku Pioneer (Thailand) Company Limited. Both are located in Rojana Industrial Park, Ayutthaya Province, Thailand.
