The winner of “Best New Mobile Electronics Product” at the SEMA show this week went to Escort for its new social network radar alert system. Metra Electronics was also named a runner up for its ASWC steering wheel control kit.
Escort took the prize for the SmartCord “anti-traffic ticket network” which debuted at the show. A new cord for Escort radar detectors couples with an app to let users view speed traps on their smartphone as they are reported along their route. Conversely, users may report a speed trap in their area to warn other Escort users.
Metra won recognition as a runner up for its Universal Steering Wheel Interface (ASWC) which adds steering wheel controls to any car radio. The kit, introduced 2 years ago, stands out for its ability to “autosense” and adjust its settings to the car and car radio it is connected to, which cuts down on installation time. The kit has a price of $79.99.
Del City was also a named as runner up by SEMA for its Sealed Window Crimp Connector.
