Mercedes-Benz released a video on the concept A-Class entertainment system, and its pretty wild.

Mercedes-Benz concept A-classThe dash board doesn’t have an SD card slot, no, it just has a slot for the whole smartphone. Slide in your phone as you would a CD and the dash draws it in. Then your radio becomes a display screen for your apps.

The system reads aloud your email and shows apps in a user interface with “revolutionary graphics and animation.”

The car is aimed at young millennials who have grown up with computers from birth and who ‘don’t want their lives to stop when the get into the car.’

Guess we have a clue about what Dieter Zetsche will talk about in his keynote address at the Consumer Electronics Show in January.

Check out the video after the first 25 second intro.

  1. I absolutely agree with this trend, but I can’t understand why the market model is to duplicate everything that already exists in a Smartphone. Does anyone really believe that the technology utilized in the audio head unit will be able to keep pace with Smartphone technology? Our model with iRoc is that consumers want to use the portable technology that they already have and need a cost effective solution that integrates this into the automobile.
