You’ve already heard that Audiobahn is planning to return to the car electronics retail market October 1, with a hard launch set for the SEMA show in Las Vegas, November 2-5.
The once hot brand in car electronics is now signing up distributors and getting a lot of Internet attention, said general manager Rick Anderson. The car audio company is attracting over 25,000 hits a day on its Web site, which launched August 2nd, he said.
New funding has been secured by founder Nasser Aboabdo and several partners who have launched an investment group called Investech Audio Group. Industry members attribute the brand’s demise in mid-2008 to a failure to maintain control over borrowing and spending. Anderson said the company closed it’s doors due to a “series of bad decisions.”
Audiobahn will continue the distinctive styling of its previous car speakers, will continue to sell through distributors and will cross promote heavily with Gen X and Gen Y lifestyle brands and celebrities, as it did in the past.
One of the first promotions will involve a toy company, which will produce die cast toys/collectibles bearing the Audiobahn brand. The car amplifier and speaker maker is also working with street wear brands Retaks and Bloodbath and working on promotions with energy drink brands. Promotions with Universal Music Group, DJ PJ Butta and west coast rapper Glasses Malone are also in the works.
Some of the new Audiobahn amplifiers will offer added power. Prices will be kept “as close as possible to the earlier line,” although in some cases, prices were raised to accommodate new component pricing.
Anderson said of the products, “Audiobahn had the look; it was and will be very recognizable for us. But we’ve made a lot of upgrades.”
The car stereo brand originally founded around 1997 was selling as much as $50 million annually in car audio products in the early years of 2000, said industry members.

Didn’t they watch Jurassic Park? Some things should stay extinct. It was junk before and I’m sure it will be again.
Great more junk to flood the market. Like the dinosaurs, audiobahn had there chance and became extinct because of poor decisions and JUNK product. Wow, can’t wait to see what kind of crap all the local convienent shops and walmarts are going to be selling!
Unfortunately that train of thought has been the demise of teh 12 volt industry, Inflated specs, heavy amps with cheaper components, the wave of the future
Great, First Pioneer releases a $70 radio and now Audiobahn is back. I can’t wait to see a 3 foot long 10,000 watt amplifier for $149.99. This article describes it all, they focus on promotions and marketing, not a quality product. I guess that is all that matters.
