Get ready to start saving on air card fees. The upcoming iPhone 4.0 OS expected to be released in June could have the long awaited feature of tethering so you can link your netbook or laptop to the 3G service in your phone. MacRumors found the tethering option available in the iPhone beta 4.0 software. It lets you link to your phone’s Internet service either by USB or Bluetooth, but apparently, users must first set up the service with AT&T, so it may not be free. Tethering may also be coming to Android phones in Android 2.2 (code named Froyo) due to be unveiled shortly by Google. And Android is expected to add a second feature of a built-in WiFi hotspot, says TechCrunch. All this with the new pay-as-you-go plans for the iPad and new netbook/laptop plans at Wal-Mart make that Internet connection on a tablet/netbook/laptop a lot easier on the wallet.

We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention lots of other rumors on the new iPhone 4.0 and iPod touch (with a 2MP camera), many of which are linked to a blog in Vietnam. Click here for reports in AppleInsider.
