Engadget so greatly applauded Ford’s decision to open up its app platform to developers that it gave the car maker a “Best in Show” award. Although rival General Motors also opened up its APIs to developers Engadget claimed, Ford’s program “shows the most potential, however, enabling developers to easily upgrade their existing smartphone apps to interact with the company’s SYNC AppLink.”
