NESS-ZIONA, ISRAEL– Morel has won a CES Innovations 2014 Design and Engineering Award for its 38 Anniversary Limited Edition car audio speaker system.
Products entered in CEA’s Innovations award program are judged by a panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and members of the trade media to honor outstanding design and engineering.
The 38 Limited Edition Anniversary system “breaks new boundaries in technological innovation to elevate musical presentation to a whole new performance level for a vibrant and engaging life-like experience,” said Morel.
“Morel converged 38 years of research, experience, innovation and manufacturing know-how to produce this system,” said Oren Mordechai, Morel’s vice president and head of R&D.
The 38 Limited Edition can be configured as a 2-way or 3–way system. “All the drivers were especially engineered and optimized to work together to achieve one purpose, to push sound quality performance to the next level,” said Mordechai. The system is “Made to perform exceedingly well in the inherently problematic acoustic chamber of a car, and within the off-axis placement that is often forced upon the installer.”
The system components have the following features:
Woofer: open and shallow profile chassis, one-piece Carbon Fiber/Rohacell sandwich cone, powerful and efficient Hybrid magnet motor system with a large 3” titanium External Voice Coil (EVC), for high power handling and exceptional linearity.
Midrage and tweeter: 28mm and 54 mm Acuflex coated, Tweeter terminated with silver-plated Van Den Hul linear crystal wire.
Crossover: Engineered to present a coherent sound stage with width and depth for a realistic reproduction of the original music. It offers flexibility in installation, simplicity in tuning and the ability for speaker components to be driven to their limits once installed. The 38 LE uses a phase-aligned crossover network employing audiophile-grade Mundorf components. These components allow a near perfect integration of all of the driver components in the car in an off-axis installation environment.
The Morel 38 Anniversary Limited Edition will be displayed in the Venetian Tower Suites 30-118 & 30-120 at the 2014 International CES, which runs January 7-10, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Honorees will also be displayed at CES Unveiled: The Official Media Event of the International CES from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, January 5 in South Seas Ballroom C at Mandalay Bay.
