Nissan announced it will offer a new energy efficient version of Bose car audio systems on the Nissan Leaf.
The Bose system delivers high sound quality without a super high power amplifier, said Nissan.
The system uses a 7-channel amplifier that claims to run cooler than others with the same power output.
It also has a 4.5 inch subwoofer in a sleek 6.2-liter bass box that mounts in the rear cargo space. But Nissan did not reveal the power output of the system, which will be a premium option on 2013 Leaf electric vehicles.
The system also uses neodymium speakers including two 1” tweeters mounted on the A pillars, two front door 6.5 inch speakers and two rear door 5.25 inch speakers.
The Bose system is part of a $1,050 premium package that also includes a surround-view camera.
CNET says JBL also makes an energy efficient system called the GreenEdge for Toyota hybrid vehicles. Toyota says the 120-watt system in the Prius matches that of a typical 600 watt system.
