If your check engine light comes on, your phone can tell you the reason why.

When you command your phone to start the car, it relays a confirmation that the car has actually started (not just that the signal was received), said Directed.

A SmartSchedule feature lets you set time and temperature alerts.  So  that at 5:00 pm if the temperature is lower than 30 degrees, your phone will ask you if you want to remote start the car.

The update is through a free SmartStart 3.0 app to be released at a date to be announced.

Directed also announced a universal keyless entry fob.  When the user comes within range, the car recognizes the key fob and automatically unlocks it via RFID.  Called the PKE, the device won an Innovation Award and will ship in Q1.

Lastly, Directed announced a Bluetooth version of SmartStart. Over Bluetooth, you can lock and unlock your car doors from the phone.  And if you have a remote start installed, you can also remote start the car from the phone.  However, the range is limited to that of Bluetooth, or about 30 to 100 feet.  The SmartStartBT will ship in Q1
