Two manufacturers, MB Quart and PowerBass, have launched new specialized speaker packages for the Toyota aftermarket.

The new PowerBass OE700-TY is a drop-in replacement speaker for the 3-way speaker systems in the Tundra and Sequoia platform from 2006-2008. “The surround on the OEM 7-inch deteriorates over time. In almost every test vehicle we bring in, the surround is completely gone,” said PowerBass VP Erik Harbour.

The OE700-TY features a shallow mounting depth, matching factory impedance, a factory female speaker connector and butyl rubber surround. For several years PowerBass has made a basic OE700, a 7-inch driver, that fits in an oversized 6.125-inch hole, but this new model includes adaptor plates and accessories for Toyota.

MB Quart introduced its new replacement speakers for the 2016-2023 Tacoma. The kits use an 8×10 two-way component system or a 6.5-inch co-ax. The kits replicate the OEM mounting points, gasketing and wire connections. The kits also include upgrade titanium dome tweeters, mounting plates and crossovers. MB Quart describes the kits as offering “no mistakes plug and play OEM style installation.”
