GCH Automotive is offering a CarPlay/Android auto adapter to restore CarPlay to GM electric and other vehicles.

GCH Automotive Systems announced it will offer this month a wired and wireless CarPlay and Android Auto adapter for newer General Motors electric vehicles and other select GM models.

The plug and play adapter works on all 2024/2025 model year GM vehicles with a 15-inch display, which includes all GM electric vehicles.

The adapter plugs into the factory screen to provide full CarPlay and Android Auto access through the touch screen interface with full audio integration. In addition, the module offers multiple camera inputs for backup, side and trailer cameras.

In 2023, GM announced it would no longer support CarPlay in its upcoming electric vehicles (but it continues to offer CarPlay in gas powered vehicles). The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV was the first GM vehicle to drop support for CarPlay followed by vehicles including the Chevy Equinox EV and Chevy Silverado EV.

“The market demand was big enough that we had to create it,” said GCH Founder and Principal Greg Delgado. “Demand for CarPlay has not shown a decline, even with some OEMs removing it.”

The GCH SPI-GM25-AP CarPlay/Android Auto adapter for General Motors ships in February at $599 with discounted pricing available.

ZZ2 also said it is in the process of developing a CarPlay/Android Auto adapter for General Motors electric vehicles.
