Dynaudio’s Parent Develops First of a Kind System

by Amy Gilroy

After announcing last week it will exit the North American market, Dynaudio is back in the news.  Its parent company Goer Dynamics announced it will offer the first IMAX branded in-car entertainment system.

The system will be marketed to OEM car makers in China, with production starting by the end of 2026.

The IMAX car system includes a 4K HDR flip-down display that is IMAX-certified and “meticulously recreates hyper-refined cinematic details,” said an IMAX in a news release.

To preserve picture quality in the changing lighting conditions of an automobile (think bright sunlight and then shade), the system will include custom ambient light adaption technology plus custom image processing.

The IMAX in-car system appears to be aimed particularly at autonomous cars.

It will offer high dynamic range audio and “robust, distortion free bass.” It will come in modular configurations to accommodate different cabin layouts, and varying numbers of speakers.

Daniel Manwaring, CEO of IMAX China said, “With our strong global brand and expertise in entertainment technology, we believe IMAX has the opportunity to set a new standard in premium in-vehicle entertainment.”

Goer Dynamics, a Chinese company owns the Danish brand Dynaudio.

Dynaudio last week announced it is withdrawing from the North America home and car audio market in the fall of this year. In a short statement published in many home audio journals it said, while the company grew its sales it faced “ongoing economic challenges” and it said “market uncertainty have led Dynaudio to prioritize investments and resources in markets that offer the strongest strategic opportunities for future development.”

“Dynaudio is committed to ensuring a smooth transition for customers and business partners,” said the company. “A dedicated plan to maintain continuity of product support and customer service in the region will be implemented and communicated shortly. The company sincerely thanks its North American customers, partners and employees for their support and contribution over the years.”
