JL Audio has entered the luxury home audio system market with a full system, available now, at towering price points.

It has not yet been determined whether the system will be available through high end car audio shops, said one distributor.

Some noted, that the system shows that Garmin, JL Audio’s new owner, remains committed to the general audio market.

Called Primacy, the system has a choice of two speakers–either compact S3 two-ways or T6 three-way tower speakers. They include built-in amplifiers, one for each driver, and built in DSP at the input of each of the active amplifier channels.

The speakers are made of one-piece alloy casting with optional replaceable cosmetic panels in a choice of finishes to match one’s home décor.

There’s an optional controller for digital, analog and steaming sources and “Primacy Automatic Room Optimization (P.A.R.O.).” This optimizes the audio to your particular room and listening position. It connects via the high resolution Dante network system or it can connect to a phone or computer via Ethernet, WiFi or Bluetooth for streaming.

A triple-core DSP, operates at 32-bit/192 kHz resolution, with control over filters, equalization, dynamics, delay and phase.

The active tower speaker includes four 5.5-inch woofers, 1-inch tweeter with carbon diaphragm, and 5.5-inch midrange.

Pricing:

The T6 towers are listed on Audio Advice at $90,000 per pair. The CS Centerpiece controller is shown at $15,000. A complete T6 system with the Centerpiece carries a listing at $105,000.

The S3 stand-mount speakers are available at $35,000 per pair, and with the Centerpiece, at a total of $50,000. Add the optional stands for another $3,500.

Other Specs:

Power output: 1000 watts RMS total–Tweeter: 200 W, Midrange: 200 W,
Woofer: 600 W.

Frequency response (anechoic): 45 Hz to 20 kHz, ±2 dB, -3 dB @ 35 Hz, -6 dB @ 32 Hz. Factory calibrated to achieve ±1.5 dB to reference response

*update 26/05/05, these speakers will only be offered Home Audio accounts

  1. Nice. 2007 has arrived. That is the year that JLA was going to enter the market with such an item. But it would have been wood or fiberglass enclosures with a price point of maybe $5,000 each if I recall for each piece. No DSP back then. No amplification. This is definitely setting the standards higher now.
