Morel introduces DirectFit drop in speakers for Ford, GM and Toyota.

Morel is shipping new DirectFit vehicle specific audio systems for General Motors, Ford and Toyota.

The plug and play speaker systems are designed to speed up installation times, eliminating the need for fabricating adapter plates and templates.

The Ford system, IP-FORD82, replaces the factory 6 x 8 door speakers in an F-Series truck with an 8-inch shallow mount woofer.  It comes in a die-cast aluminum bracket that aligns exactly with the factory screw holes.   It’s joined by a 1-inch soft dome tweeter and bracket for a snap-in installation at the A-pillar.  It works in 2016 and up systems.

The General Motors’ IP-GM82 and Toyota IP-TOY82 systems replace the 6×9 door speakers with the same 8-inch shallow mount woofer.  Both models come with a 2.5-inch wide band driver (IP-VWB25.4) instead of a tweeter, delivering midrange as well as extended highs, said Morel.

All three systems are very efficient with a sensitivity of 92dB from 40 Hz to 20kHz, allowing a significant improvement over factory speakers when using factory amplification. With power ratings of 100 watts RMS, 200 watts peak power handling, they can also be amplified. The built-in and inline crossovers can be bypassed if a fully active system is preferred.

Each system comes with the necessary connectors and accessories needed to cover a broad range of vehicle years.

Additional DirectFit models for trucks, SUVs and crossovers are due in the future.
