Select Stellantis vehicle owners have received ads that remain on their infotainment screen for 15 seconds upon start up of the vehicle.
Stellantis told The Drive that the marketing notifications were part of Stellantis’ message system used to contact owners at critical times such as for recalls.
Stellantis recently pushed a pop up ad that was ‘tailored to minimize any intrusions” to “a select group of owners.”
The ad offered a $1,500 bonus incentive on the purchase of a new Stellantis vehicle.
Jeep sent out similar pop up ads in February advertising extended warranties.
A picture of a message was posted on X by Zerin Dube @SpeedSportLife on his Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The news was picked up by automotive reporters on Jalopnik and The Drive who forecast that these ads will be an inevitable irritant to drivers in the future.
