Foss Audio becomes largest car audio chain with purchase of Car Toys stores.

The sale of 35 Car Toys locations to five groups of buyers was finalized, effective 11:59 pm Tuesday.

The remaining dozen Car Toys locations were closed in August, said the founder of the iconic car audio chain Dan Brettler.

Car Toys, as we knew it, will no longer be in operation, and Brettler no longer be chairman in the coming weeks. But some of the stores purchased are expected to retain the Car Toys name or add the Car Toys name to their current store label.

Brettler told us, “I am extremely pleased that we were able to consummate these five sales to five very qualified buying groups, that we were able to preserve the vast majority of jobs, and that customer service will continue in all markets.”

The sales make the six-store, Washington-based, Foss Audio and Tint, which purchased 15 Car Toys stores, one of the largest independent car audio chains, now with 21 stores.

Foss bought six of 10 stores in Northern Colorado, eight of 12 stores in Western Washington and the Upfitting Facility in Portland, Oregon.

Additionally two groups of Car Toys employees purchased two locations:

Troy Parcels (27-year Car Toys veteran) and Chris Pritts (14-years) bought eight of 12 stores in the Dallas-Ft. Worth market and all four stores in the Houston market. (Store locations listed by Pritts on social media include Arlington, Denton, Frisco, Fort Worth, Hurst, Lewisville, McKinney, Rockway, Baybrook, Deerbrook, Woodlands and Willowbrook.

Don Longworth (16-year Car Toys veteran) and Raul Shakarov (25-years) purchased five of six stores in the Oregon market.

Additionally, Aspen Sound purchased both locations in Spokane, Washington and Drive-In Autosound purchased the Colorado Springs North location.

Car Toys, the largest car audio chain until now with 47 stores, had been in operation for 38 years and has been a leader and pioneer in the car audio market.
