JVC Adds Floating 9-inch Head Unit

JVC Mobile Entertainment has added a 9-inch floating head unit to its lineup.  The new KW-Z900W receiver offers wireless and wired CarPlay/Android Auto as well as iDatalink Maestro compatibility to retain factory features.

The KW-Z900W, at $599.99, offers a capacitive screen with 360-degree, 5-point vertical tilt adjustment.  It has an HDMI input and SiriusXM compatibility, plus multiple camera inputs.  The high definition display has a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels.

Rick Noetzli, Product Manager at JVC Mobile Entertainment said, “From its a wireless smartphone integration to it space-saving floating design, this unit delivers premium performance and flexibility without compromise.”

The KW-Z900W is shipping now.

  1. Gee….I was hoping to see the mounting points, the back of the radio, o r something. Is this just a replacement for the factory floating touchscreen? If so, still pretty cool.

    1. It’s fundamentally a single din head unit.
      The “floating” detail refers to how the huge screen suspended out in front of the head unit often blocks other car dashboard control panels. It allows you to suspend the screen a bit more right, left, up, or down to try to not block those controls.

      While that generation Corolla doesn’t have a single din unit specifically, it’s very close not only to a single din chassis, but the overall format is very much like this unit. You are lucky, a screen like this wouldn’t block anything. Great choice.

      I haven’t personally done one, but they sell dash kits to adapt a single din head unit. Most cars of the past 20 or 30 years require a dash kit for fitting a head unit and a wiring harness adapter. Buy those and this will install like factory and look good.
