Ford is planning to release in 2027 a mid-sized electric pickup truck at a $30,000 base price. It is expected to be a 4-door model similar to the popular Maverick.
To save on costs, the new pickup, as yet unnamed, will be based on a universal platform on which other vehicles, such as vans and cars will be built in the future, saving on factors such as parts and assembly.
Ford’s EVs presently are the F150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E, based on singular platforms.
The new pickup is said to be Ford’s effort to compete with Chinese EV makers.
