SiriusXM officially launched its ad-supported, lower-priced subscription tier. The new package, called SiriusXM Play, has a monthly price of under $7, with access to over 130 channels.
Play includes “limited” ads in car. It will attract new, more price-sensitive listeners, said SiriusXM. In addition, the new Play tier “will continue to scale in the coming months, with package pricing and further details to be announced later in 2025,” said SiriusXM.
As it rolls out, Play is expected to include:
- Music: Hits 1, The Highway, Hip-Hop Nation + more
- Sports: Mad Dog Sports Radio, College Sports Radio, Fantasy Sports Radio + more
- News: POTUS, Patriot, Progress + more
- Talk + Entertainment: Radio Andy, Conan O’Brien Radio, TODAY Show Radio + more
- Comedy: Kevin Hart’s LOL Radio, Comedy Central Radio, Jeff & Larry’s Comedy Roundup + more
Play also includes access to the SiriusXM app. SiriusXM Play subscribers with 360L vehicles may also get additional features such as SiriusXM Xtra channels.
From a business standpoint, Play is expected to boost SiriusXM’s advertising portfolio, which reaches 160 million listeners each month (including Pandora and SoundCloud). The company said it will launch in the future more packages, dynamic targeting and measurement tools for advertisers.
SiriusXM first announced its plan to launch an ad-supported tier in May.
Scott Walker, Chief Advertising Revenue Officer, SiriusXM said, “The car is the final frontier for digital ad-supported media…”
SiriusXM Play’s expansion will make the package available to nearly 100 million vehicles by the end of 2025, “with further growth on the horizon in the years to come,” said SiriusXM.
