Pioneer sold to CarUX

Following the announcement of the sale of Pioneer to CarUX, a Taiwanese maker of smart cockpit solutions, Pioneer Electronics USA Chairman and CEO, Chris Ono said that the partnership with CarUX will result in advanced products for the aftermarket.

“We anticipate significant synergistic effects that will result in innovative products for the aftermarket,” said Ono.

“With Car UX’s advanced core technologies and scale power, combined with Pioneer’s in-vehicle product platforms, which include infotainment, sound, and safety and security solutions, we are confident in our ability to deliver cutting-edge aftermarket products,” Ono added.

CarUX, which announced its purchase of Pioneer Corporation for $1.1 billion yesterday, is a subsidiary of Innolux, a supplier of LCD and LED panels and monitors. Innolux owns 13 LCD-TFT plants in Taiwan.

CarUX recently showed what it called the industry’s first hidden display through leather.  It uses direct MiniLED backlighting to transmit high-quality, high-brightness images through leather. Drivers can then operate the display normally through the leather, “unlocking a new aesthetic for hidden automotive displays,” it said.

  2. I’ve had many Pioneer products. They licensed their name to a few XM Radios. I have a few of their AVH-2550NEX, and DEH-X8800BHS units. They make good tech. But all companies sell. Life cycle of business, sadly.

  3. Pioneer was never a US company. Also, Pioneer doesn’t really make anything anymore, they sold off all of their products to other companies years ago

  4. I have 2 Pioneer head units I bought in 2018, for over $500 each. One is an AVH4100NEX and the other is a 4200. Both have screens that turn white and you don’t have control over what you are listening to. I read that this was a problem which Pioneer recognized and actually offered to repair them for free, if you pulled your unit and sent it in. When I called to ask about this, I was told that they didn’t have that problem with my model numbers and that they would not repair them for free. I will NEVER buy any Pioneer junk again.

  5. As a retailer, if they continue to sell on ebay and Amazon at prices at, or below cost, it will never be in my store. During covid, the quality went in the tank and they never brought it back to the previous standards. Might as well sell it at the swap meet.

    1. Pioneer has never been an American owned brand/company. AJS you need to educate yourself a bit better.
