At the Google I/O 2025 developers conference, Google announced that Android Auto will support video apps while the car is parked. Additionally, Google is working with car makers to allow audio-only from video apps while the car is in motion for Android Automotive built-in (not Android Auto).
Video while parked will show video apps on the car infotainment screen when the car is stationary. It will start with phones running Android 16 on select compatible cars.
