JVCKENWOOD USA announced the retirement of Dave Hoag, Executive Vice President, who will be succeeded by John Lucas, who has been promoted to Senior VP of Mobile and Telematics sector.
Lucas was previously VP Sales for the Kenwood Car Electronics division.
Lucas will lead JVCKENWOOD strategies in innovation, growth and overall direction in Mobile and Telematics, uniting the strengths of both JVC and Kenwood brands. He will also play a key role in strengthening relationships with dealers, distributors, and industry partners.
“John has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, strategic vision, and unwavering commitment to excellence throughout his tenure,” said Hoag. “I’m extremely confident in John’s ability to not only fill my shoes but also propel our brands forward… His dedication and passion for our industry are second to none.”
Lucas has over 30 years experience in consumer electronics and has worked at Kenwood for 20 years.
He said, “… I am eager to work closely with our talented teams to further enhance our market position, strengthen our relationships, and drive impactful innovation …”
Hoag is retiring after over three decades in the industry. He began his career in retail at Magnolia HiFi, then joined Kenwood in 1994 as a rep in the Pacific Northwest. In 2002, he moved to Sirius Satellite Radio as a Key Accounts Manager, and then rejoined Kenwood in 2004 as Western Region Manager. He quickly advanced to Director of Sales in 2006.
Hoag said he has taken deep pride in the remarkable individuals he’s had the pleasure of mentoring and growing alongside—employees, representatives, and dealers alike.
Hoag said, “Empowering people has always been the cornerstone of my leadership style. Allowing individuals the freedom to learn and grow, even if it involves occasional failure, has been crucial in fostering an environment where true learning can occur, and each person will achieve their highest potential. I’m incredibly grateful for the dedicated and talented people I’ve been fortunate to work alongside.”
He also expressed deep appreciation for the relationships he’s built with dealers, and representatives. “To the amazing retail leaders in this industry (you know who you are) that played a key role in my personal development and business ethic, sometimes through hard-knocks in the head, humor, or just a drink, THANK YOU. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without you and WISH YOU ALL THE BEST.”
In retirement, Hoag plans to enjoy quality time with his family, travel, learn to fish, and create new memories.
