For the quarter (October–December), aftermarket sales increased as did OEM business revenue and profit. The M&T (Mobility & Telematics) sector, which the aftermarket falls under, saw operating income rise to $342 million for the quarter, up from $334 million a year ago and up from $320 million in Q2.

For the nine month period (April-December), sales remained virtually unchanged at $969 million compared to last year and core operating income rose to $23 million, up from $20 million a year ago.

Mobility & Telematics is about 55 percent of JVCKENWOOD sales.  The global aftermarket was 14 percent of sales (and includes products such as alcohol detectors and portable power stations) and OEM was about 37 percent out of total sales last year of about $2.36 billion.

ALPS ALPINE corporate results also saw an increase in sales and profits.  Revenue was $4.86 billion, up slightly over $4.83 billion a year ago.  Operating profit was $166 million compared to $135 million a year ago and net income swung to a profit of $65 million compared to a loss of $133.7 million for the period a year ago.

Sales at the Module & System segment (Alpine is part of the System segment) fell compared to last year due to the end of models in the System segment for Europe. However the segment is expected to meet its profitability goals for the fiscal year that ends in March, said the company.

Module & System sales fell to $2.56 billion compared to $2.73 billion the year prior.  Operating income swung to a loss of $656,000 compared to a gain of $4.6 million a year ago.
