Garmin Intros Motorcycle ADAS

Garmin zūmo R1 is a blind spot detector for motorcycles.

Garmin announced a radar-based ADAS system for motorcycles, which it recommends for professional installation.

The zūmo R1 Radar provides blindspot and rearview monitoring. It comes with indicator lights for the handle bars and is designed to provide riders better awareness of the cars approaching and around them.

It also comes with lights to make the motorcycle more visible to other vehicles on the road.  It has two side-facing amber lights and an optional rear-facing red light.

The system works with one’s phone (via an app) or the Garmin zūmo XT2 motorcycle navigator (sold separately).

The radar solution mounts above or below the license plate for a stealth install. It has an IP67 dust and water rating.

It is available now at a suggested retail price of $599.99.

  1. I thought Garmin was only available to marine stores. This looks like a nice unit. It would be great if car audio shops had access to unit.
