BOSS Audio, which is pushing into the mid to higher end of the car audio market, announced it will ship its new Elite series decks with wireless and wired CarPlay/Android Auto in July to be followed by new amplifiers with true to spec ratings by August.
The new head units have an updated touchscreen design and are BOSS’s first to include SiriusXM capability. They use faster processors plus new firmware that allows USB updates to add features in the future. In addition to wireless and wired CarPlay/Android Auto, the decks include built-in digital signal processing. Sizes include 7-, 9- and 10.1 inch radios as well as 12- and 14-inch sizes.
BOSS Audio is making a major investment in the car audio industry, it said. It has hired ten new employees in the past 12 months including several industry leading sales managers and designers.
The aim is to capitalize on the momentum BOSS gained during the pandemic, said Director of Sales, Matthew Delgado. Both Delgado and Jason Digos were brought in to lead the effort of shifting BOSS’s focus to the independent retail channel through new sales and training initiatives.
BOSS owners and executives “recognize where the industry is going and want to make the investment in people and products,” said Digos. “Where a lot of companies are cutting back, we’re increasing,” he said.
“Two years ago, no one thought we’d have a $600 radio,” said Delgado, adding, “During COVID, dealers experienced the opportunity to try our products. This is our opportunity. The majority of the industry saw the product doesn’t break and now there’s the opportunity to keep going. Our upper-management decided to go all in,” said Delgado, adding, “We have the capability to move faster than most head unit companies. ”

Interesting. By that logic than the “big 5’s” lower priced headunits would not be legit as well correct? Doesn’t make sense.
I would argue that thePioneer 1770 issues the Kenwood 47S bluetooth quality and the Alpine ILXW670 swc nightmares prove they are not legit performance wise compared to upper tier versions.
Many people that work for the “Big 5” A-list radio brands, keep telling me that Boss radios are NOT running legit Apple Carplay and Android Auto, that’s why they have a lower price point, and have more icons on the home screens, etc.
Can anyone confirm or refute this? I have been VERY happy selling Boss Elite since the pandemic started, and have had only 1 failure on a radio in the past 4-years, which of course, was warrantied without question.
From what Iv’e seen all the Boss units are Apple Certified. The autoplay units like the Concept DL-70 are not certified. Jensen is Dual is. Linkswell is not. You will notice many use Zlink or a different icon on the bootleg versions. Boss Carplays from everything Iv’e seen are not bootleg and I have yet to have to warranty a single Boss/Planet carplay Iv’e installed.
