PowerBass will ship in two months a new high end line of its most efficient amplifiers to date under the new PBX banner.
These will be joined by other PBX products including subwoofers. Also a DSP, PBX-DSP8 is already available. The line is PowerBass’ new top series.
“This is upper end product that PowerBass has never really dug into before. The engineering and attention to sound profiles and detail behind this product is the most advanced it has ever been from PowerBass,” said Vice President, Erik Harbour.
Some of the PBX amplifiers have already been shipped to the UK for field testing. The amps are full range, Class D, and use IR chipsets with a Korean-style circuit design. They will be offered in mono, 4-, 5 and 6-channel configurations initially with possible 8- and 12-channel models to follow.
The PBX amplifiers have a front-loaded design so all connections are on one side, facing the front. They have a small footprint and range in price from $350 to $800.
There are four mono amplifiers ranging from 800 to 3,000 watt output. They include the PBX-800.1D Mono Block Compact Amplifier with the following specs:
- 800 Watt High Efficiency Class D Design
- Front Load Terminal Design
- 1-OHM Stable Mono Block Amplifier
- Ultra Low Current Draw
- Double Sided Copper Plated PCB
- PWM MOSFET Power Supply
- Digital Sound Optimization Circuitry
- High Damping Control Circuit
- Variable Subsonic Filter
- High Current Voltage Ripple Rejection Circuitry
- Balanced RCA Inputs
- Selectable Auto Turn On Circuit
- Remote Soft Delay Turn On/Off Circuit
- 40 Click Variable Low Pass Electronic Crossover
- 40 Click Variable Frequency/18dB Bass Boost EQ
- Variable Gain Control
- Wired Secondary Remote Gain Control Included
- Calibrated Visual Clipping Indicator
- Protection Circuit: Impedance Over-load, Speaker Short, Circuit, Thermal Overheating, and DC Output
The 4-channel amplifier is the PBX-500.4 4ch Compact Amplifier with the following specs:
- 1,000 Watt High Efficiency Full-Range Class D Design
- 2-OHM Stable Four Channel Amplifier
- Ultra Low Current Draw
- Double Sided Copper Plated PCB
- PWM MOSFET Power Supply
- Digital Sound Optimization Circuitry
- High Damping Control Circuit
- Variable Subsonic Filter
- High Current Voltage Ripple Rejection Circuitry
- Balanced RCA Inputs
- Auto Turn On/Off
- Remote Soft Delay Turn On/Off Circuit
- 40 Click Variable Detente High/Low Pass Electronic Crossover
- Switchable 0/12/18 dB Bass Boost @ 45 Hz
- Variable Gain Control
- Protection Circuit: Impedance Over-load, Speaker Short, Circuit, Thermal Overheating, and DC Output
Also shipping in the coming months is a PBX 1 subwoofer line that’s designed for accurate bass with “exceptional output and power handling,” said Harbour. The subwoofers use poly cones, rubber surrounds with a bumped back plate for extended low frequencies. They also include stamped steel treated baskets and they are offered in dual 2- and dual 4-ohm configurations.
PBX subwoofers will be available in 8- to 12-inch models with possible 6.5- and 15-inch models in the future. Pricing will range from $80 to $120 MAP.

I am absolutely thrilled to be reading this article, I am a complete and total audiophile and have been all of my life. I’m talking about running five receivers from One audio then separating front mains, center, rear speakers and surrounds also separated through three or four 24 band eq’s. my speakers of choice have always been the one’s I couldn’t afford but by shear determination I’ve always ended up with what I was seeking bose, polk audio, Boston acoustic, B&W, triad ect, ect ect the list goes on, sorry I digress. I always loved your subs they were crisp clean and if a guy knew how to properly wire an audio system they hit damn which often made me ask myself why you guys didn’t fight for a bigger market share. So my question to you is this, you have sent test units out in the UK may I ask how does one go about having his or her name added to that list here in the US..? please advise, I will even go so far as to become a moble advertisment I will sticker all the windows in my car with P-Bass, ok One finall question are these new amps strappable which I am guessing (hoping) they are, what were the numbers like on the dyno… much love for your brand it would be fantastic to see your products finally realized and seen as top notch equipment
