Cicada, the motorcycle audio company which launched in 2021, showed at KnowledgeFest a new line of compact amplifiers and carbon speakers.

The new compact FLX amplifiers are 30 percent smaller than other Cicada models.  They offer high power and flexible mounting options.  The six model line is designed to fit in the front faring of a Harley-Davidson Road Glide or Street Glide with Cicada’s custom tooled mounting system.  An FLX700.4 delivers 175 x 4 watts RMS into 2 ohms and measures 4.5 x 4.9 x 2 inches.

Also new is Cicada’s first cut-in kit for its new 10-inch mid-bass driver.  It includes a Harley saddle bag brace ring and grill designed to work with a CMB-10 driver.  It has a retail price of $399. See video here.

Cicada’s carbon series, called the CHXPRO, is a waterproof line designed for increased power handling.  It includes a new 6.5-inch drop in with a 1/2-inch mounting depth and a 300 watt power handling rating.  This is the newest model in the line, available in 2 and 4 ohm configurations.

Additional CHX Pro models are available in 6 x 9- and 8-inches.

Cicada was launched by industry veteran Larry Frederick who passed last year.  It now sells to about 100 dealers and seven distributors.  “We only do this,” said Cicada Director of Sales Marty Deane (pictured above), referring to Cicada’s motorcycle audio-only lineup.

  1. I like that 10″ woofer template, pretty cool! I’ve cut a few in and it is indeed always guess work.

That said, has anyone had much luck with subs in bags like that? I’ve personally fiddled with a couple different driver options and never had much luck with any sort of strong output. Haven’t tried ported ever, though. I’d be curious to hear some other experiences.. there’s almost zero info online and others I have talked to on the subject haven’t experimented, either.
