Honda announced it is offering a software update that upgrades wired CarPlay/Android Auto to wireless.

Owners must visit a Honda dealer for the update, which carries a fee of $112 plus labor charge.  The update is available on about 631,000 Accord models from 2018-2022 model years.

Honda said to expect more updates like this. “…the new initiative is part of the company’s broader sustainability effort, seeking to maximize lifetime value of in-market Honda vehicles by offering upgrades and new digital services,” it said in a press release.

Jay Joseph, VP of the Sustainability & Business Development Division at American Honda Motor Co said, “Enhancing the ownership experience and market value of Honda vehicles already in use is a key strategy in pursuit of our goal to have zero environmental impact by 2050.”
