VOXX will introduce a number of new products this year including a new line of Viper transmitters for remote start, marking the first line refresh in about five years.
Additionally, it announced a new “ekey” digital key system.
The new Viper transmitters will include the brand’s longest range models to date as well as smaller and thinner models and new technology. More details, including a release date, will follow, said VOXX.
The new ekey system will launch mid year 2024. Without hiding a key in the car, ekey automatically unlocks and disarms your car when you approach. It’s based on an app on your phone so there’s no need to keep a key in your pocket or purse. (You don’t have to launch the app to unlock the car).
The ekey also allows sharing your car with family members or limiting access to teens. It can also serve as an extra key given that a lost key can now cost $399 to reproduce, said VOXX.
ekey includes a module that’s installed in the vehicle and a programming device for the installer. An app then “learns” your key. A back up credit card sized fob can be carried in a wallet in case your phone loses battery charge.
The ekey will work with OEM, VOXX, Directed and other aftermarket security systems.
Finally, VOXX is also offering a stick-on keypad for the car for use with remote start DS4 and DS4P modules. The water resistant, iP68-rated keypad affixes via 3M tape and can be placed on the car’s A-Pillar or the back of a truck to lock and unlock a security system. Shipping is expected in early Q2 or late Q1 2024 at approximately $149.99 MAP.

The vet you only had to match the resistor in the key.
Now you have to learn the factory anti theft chip
Provided its not locked down where you can’t add keys fobs.
Fords had push button entry for years, you used to have to cut holes in the door to install an aftermarket kit.
And buy a special tool from snap on.
I bought the tool and a kit years ago.
Customer backed out of the deal after i got everything.
A stick on kit won’t damage the car, great if its a leased
Fleet car for some coprations with a fleet of vehicles.
Just punch in the code and go.
No key needed.

It is nothing like the Keylocker – the consumer does not need to give up a key. I guess anyone can leave a comment, but you should have your facts straight first. Hahaha…

So is it a data interface that’s mimicking the fatory key? Do you no longer need the factory key then to start and drive the vehicle?
I thought this concept was sort of forbidden by auto manufacturers. A sort of gentleman’s agreement no to take away the needs for factory keys and thus manufacturer’s don’t make remote starters hard to install?
