Outrageous Audio owner Blane Hartleb is fed up with breakins and vandalism at his leading car audio shop.

You can see him on this video clip from Fox12 News after a theft attempt in October.

He told Fox, “This door here is $1,000, the warehouse locks are $1,000, the security system was $10,000 and it’s $800 a month to monitor it.  The costs are skyrocketing and there’s no end to that.”

Outrageous Audio in Portland, OR is a 37 year old shop that is a leader in its market and it is vandalized every other month.

Hartleb says the store is the number one Kenwood, Kicker, Compustar and Focal dealer for a single store. He sells 250 to 300 head units a month and he promises same day installs

He’s also a dominant force on regional TV, claiming to offer “insane” prices as did “Crazy Eddie” back in the 70s.  Outrageous Audio spends between $20 and $40K/month on TV ads.  “We saturate, we dominate TV,” he said.

Hartleb himself, is planning to move to Florida or South Carolina, but the store will continue where it is.

“I have 12 guys that will run this and I will continue doing the commercials from down South,” he said.

Portland is the number 5 city in the US for motor vehicle thefts.

“Hyundai and Kia: we have two in the shop right now and we’ve only been open this morning for 15 minutes.  On Tik Tok it shows how to steal a Kia or Hyundai in less than 5 seconds with a thumb drive,” said Hartleb.

He adds, “Insurance companies are no longer covering those vehicles unless they have a security system.  Also catalytic converters, it’s never ending, and your gas tank can be drilled. Gas is $5 a gallon around here.”

As a result Hartleb sells around 100 to 150 Compustar security systems a month, he said.

Outrageous Audio has over 2,200 Google reviews with a 4.7 star rating. Hartleb offers to teach other car audio store owners the methods behind his success through a website called carstereomanager.com

  1. Thank you, progressives, for contributing to the crime spree that boosts car security sales.

  2. Blaine is a great guy! I’ve known him for years and wish him the best. So sad for Portland’s east side.
