Updated: JL Audio’s sales management team has been restructured in the wake of the company’s purchase by Garmin in September.
Brian Power, JL Audio VP US Retail Sales and Carl Kennedy, VP Sales are no longer with the company, according to many dealers and other industry members.
Garmin said, “As we continue to integrate JL Audio into Garmin, we have made some strategic decisions to align our teams to leverage the strengths of each organization in support of our combined businesses. This alignment resulted in a few workforce efficiency adjustments.” Garmin would not name those who were laid off.
A number of industry members said that JL Audio VP OEM Sales Ora Freeman, and the International Sales Manager are no longer with the company.
Several industry members said that Ed Meenan will now act as head of sales with other regional managers reporting to him. Meenan is also East Coast Regional Manager, Todd Wilson is Central Regional Manager and Rich Vreeland is West Coast Regional Manager, according to industry members.

Indeed…. Time will tell, but what is the typical scenario in these type of deals, is the new management seeks to swiftly begin to ‘recoup’ their purchase costs. That subsequently puts ‘crosshairs’ on both management payroll and manufacturing facilities or any property assets. “The winds of change are blowing”…
They will pick it apart until we no longer recognize it as the top tier brand it has been for so long.
Dearest JL….. you’re scaring me.
And so it begins…
