Axxess by Metra Electronics announced it has begun simplifying its interface lineup.
It will condense the number of SKUs it offers so that more vehicle applications can be covered by a smaller number of interfaces. The aim is to make it easier for installers to locate the product they need and to carry fewer SKUs in inventory, said Jason Anderson, Metra VP of Research and Development.
Metra is also overhauling Axxess’s Vehicle Fit Guide, a lookup tool to match Axxess interfaces with the installation at hand.
Under the new Fit Guide, customers are asked three questions to find the right interface. For a GM vehicle, users would be prompted to answer:
- Do you want to retain OnStar?
- Do you need to retain an OE amplifier?
- Do you want to retain steering wheel controls?
Axxess said it will achieve the system redesign without changing part numbers, with the exception of a few products.
Axxess produces vehicle-specific DSP packages and T-harnesses, amp retention interfaces, STOP/START engine override interfaces, AXTC Series interfaces, a newly released series of line output converters, and other integration accessories designed to help installers.
