DroneMobile 4G Dash Cam from Firstech

Firstech officially announced its DroneMobile  XC Dash Cam, the first to integrate seamlessly with aftermarket remote start and security systems, it said.

The 4G dash cam offers real time views in and around one’s vehicle over LTE with the use of an updated DroneMobile app.

The XC Dash Cam can be installed as a 2K QHD standalone unit with GPS tracking and LTE connectivity or added to a security/remote start system. With the security system, users get extra door, hood and trunk monitoring and they can arm the unit along with locking doors from the remote.  If users view suspicious activity around the car they can trigger an alarm to ward off intruders.

While driving, DroneMobile XC continuously records and when parked, the device’s sensors can trigger it to record and send a push notification when it detects incidents like a shopping cart bump, hit-and-run collision, attempted break-in, or unauthorized towing.

“With the integration of a dash cam into compatible car alarm and remote start systems, we’re introducing new ways to interact with the DroneMobile app to view live video streams, control, secure and track your car all in one place,” said Justin Lee marketing director for Firstech.

Current DroneMobile users will be given an opportunity to upgrade to the new dash cam.

Features include:

  • High-Definition, Wide-Angle Lens: The XC Dash Cam has a 2K (2560×1440) front camera using a Sony STARVIS sensor. It delivers 154 degrees of surveillance coverage and captures detailed footage at 30 frames per second in most lighting conditions.
  • Live View from Anywhere: View live dash cam footage via AT&T in and around the car by tapping “Live View” in the DroneMobile app.
  • Secure Backup to the Cloud: Any videos a user marks as favorites or important are automatically backed up to the cloud.
  • Optional Interior or Rear Camera: DroneMobile XC can connect to an additional video input to add an interior or rear camera.
  • Expandable Memory Storage: DroneMobile XC has 64 GB of local storage that can be expanded to 256 GB via a micro SD card. With increased storage, videos are saved longer before they’re overwritten by newer footage.
  • Seamless Installation: DroneMobile XC offers streamlined installation with vehicle-specific T-harnesses.

The XC Dash Cam can be controlled via an Apple Watch and Android smartwatches as well as an iPhone or Android phone.  It also responds to Amazon Alexa and Apple Siri voice assistants.

A subscription is not necessary for a local WiFi connection. To connect via LTE, a basic DroneMobile plan for control and tracking starts at $3.99/month. Live streaming from the dash cam costs an additional $7 per month.

The DroneMobile XC Dash Cam works with the leading aftermarket remote start and alarm system brands, including Compustar, Arctic Start, NuStart and FTX.

It will be available before the end of the year at a retail price of $379.99, not including labor required for installation.
