Ford ADT partnership Canopy Pickup Cam

Ford and ADT entered a joint venture in car security last year called Canopy and its first creation, the Pickup Cam,  is now available for pre-order.

The camera will be available for many popular trucks, not just Ford models, said Canopy.

The Pickup Cam provides real time monitoring of a truck bed even when the truck is parked.  Users get a 180 degree view of the truck bed.  The HD camera also has an LED bar that indicates the truck is under surveillance, acting as a deterrent.  It uses a cellular connection for continuous monitoring at $14.99/month.

The system can be self installed in about 15 minutes.

The camera works with a Canopy Security app that sends a push notification when suspicious activity is detected.  The app lets you view live video and past recordings.  The app also includes an on-demand emergency help feature that connects directly to ADT.

The Pickup Cam will be available this fall at $299.  The $14.99 subscription includes 4G LTE service, cloud storage, real time alerts, ADT emergency help and software updates/new feature rollouts. The first 1,500 sold will get a 50 percent discount.

Canopy CEO Christian Moran said, “Every day, vehicle owners load their trucks with the tools that make their work possible. These vehicles are designed to transport their livelihood, yet, they offer little protection. Traditional security measures, such as lockboxes, cables, and covers add unnecessary time and effort to the work day.”

He added, “The harsh reality is most people who use these products don’t find out about a theft until it’s too late. At Canopy, we saw these problems as an opportunity to redefine vehicle security…”
