12V Opportunity in These Vehicles

12Volt Opportunity as GM Deletes Park Assist Features

Here’s a list of vehicles that are shipping without certain features due to chip shortages.  We’ve reported on some of these before, but it may be helpful to see a listing in one place.

We’re talking about cars that once offered blindspot systems, liftgates, truck bed covers, and seat warmers that now ship without them.

Proactive dealers can  approach local car dealerships and offer to provide the missing accessories.  Or dealers can simply advertise on social media that these products are available at their shops.

The feature deletions in new cars are hard to pinpoint.  One car dealership may confirm the deletion and another will deny it.  Or sometimes the shipments are spotty and some vehicles have the features and others don’t, even within the same trim level.

Our list is based on reports from industry members and published reports that are confirmed by at least one car dealership unless otherwise stated.

If you know of other de-contented vehicles, please note that in the comment section or email [email protected].

Here are some current de-contented vehicles:

Honda Accord EX—Some, but not all, are shipping without blind spot systems.

Toyota Tacoma and Tundra trucks—Some but not all are shipping without Tonneau covers.

Volkswagen Jetta, Atlas, Tiguan and Taos—Some in the SE trim level are shipping without blindspot monitors.

Kia Carnival SV does not offer a power rear hatch for model years 2022-2023.  The Volkswagen Tiguan/Taos and Atlas removed this option.  Mazda removed the option for the CX5 and CX30 for the 2022-2023 model year and Toyota does not offer a a power rear hatch upgrade for the 4Runner, according to Greg Delgado of GCH Automotive.

Kia models from 2011-21 and Hyundai models from 2015-21 with turn-key ignitions lack immobilizers.  Those not eligible for a software update are part of a class action suit, giving owners $300 towards an upgrade, said reports.

Certain Chevrolet vehicles are still shipping without park assist features, heated seats and/or heated steering wheels.  See more here.
