Mercedes’ new 2024 E-Class interior offers some of the latest tech in OEM infotainment including a “selfie camera” trained on the driver that allows zoom calls and Tik Tok.
The camera also functions as a way to monitor the driver and make sure he is not glancing too often at the passenger’s screen (part of the dashboard- long touchscreen). If the driver is distracted by the screen, the car can automatically dim the passenger screen (but the passenger can still view it).
The passenger can see streaming video content; and Mercedes will allow third party apps that don’t require CarPlay or Android Auto. (Some of these may appear in the center screen, visible to the driver).
For audio, the E-Class gets a standard 17-speaker Burmester 4D surround system with Dolby Atmos. It supports Spatial Audio through Apple Music. There’s an optional lighting package where the car’s interior light strips pulse and change to the beat of your music.
