Kicker announced a new ST-Series of car audio drivers, which essentially marks its entry into the 12 volt Pro Audio category.
The new mid-range drivers are notable in that they use square cones. They are available in 7-inch and 9-inch versions that handle up to 300 watts RMS.
Kicker says the new speakers may be used for balancing instruments and voices with large, high output subwoofers.
ST-Series bullet tweeters are sold as 1- or 1.5-inch singles. Front- and rear-mount options allow the tweeter to be installed flush or on a surface. Field-replaceable, voice-coil rebuild kits are available as needed (sold separately).
Other features of the new ST-Series include pressed-pulp cones, treated cloth surrounds and heavy ferrite magnets.
The ST -Series speakers come with a 2-year warranty. The mid-ranges will retail for $199.99 to $229.99 and the bullet tweeters will retail for $99.99 to $109.99.
