The top seller in car audio subwoofers for the recent quarter ended in June remains the same as last year for the same quarter.

According to the NPD Group, the number one subwoofer model by dollar sales to consumers for the April to June period this year was the Kicker 48DCWR122 loaded subwoofer enclosure.

The model was originally introduced in 2013 and has undergone three updates since then.  Kicker attributes the model’s success to its 1,000 watt RMS power handling combined with “its highly efficient deep bass… at an attractive price point. ”  It includes two 12-inch CompR, dual 2-ohm voice coil subwoofers in a ported box at a street price of  $383.96.

Kicker also took the top subwoofer spot as measured by unit volume, said NPD. The  standalone 43C104 was first introduced in 2001 and has been updated 7 times since then.  It’s based on Kicker’s original Competition 10-inch subwoofer, first introduced in 1987.  It adds Forced Air Cooling at a street price of about $79.

JL Audio and Kenwood also figured in the top five subwoofers by dollars in the recent quarter.
