Audison Intros More Powerful DSP Amplifiers

Audison new Forza amplifiers

Audison announced at KnowledgeFest in Orlando this weekend a new Forza family of amplifiers that will eventually replace Prima amplifiers. Audison Prima will become mainly a speaker line.

The new Forza amplifiers are more powerful in watts and in digital signal processing (DSP). For example, currently, a Prima DSP/amp rated at 35 watts by 8 will be replaced by a Forza model at 65 watts by 8, in the same form factor.

Forza amps can now restore OEM systems back to proper phase.  (In a stereo system, when one speaker’s audio signals arrive at the listener’s ears later than the other, some frequencies interfere with each other and they sound worse than if from a single speaker). In vehicles including some Toyota, Subaru, Hyundai, Kia and in every Bose system, the left and right channels aren’t in phase so you are not getting true stereo, said Ken Ward, International Technical Marketing Manager for Elettromedia Sri, Audison’s parent company.  The new phase capability corrects that, he said.

Forza is the “culmination of years of research and development into DSP in vehicles,” said Elettromedia.

Forza includes nine amplifiers, 5 with built-in DSP (“bit” DSP/amps) and four non-DSP amps that can be paired with one of the DSP/amps and use its DSP capability.

Forza DSP amps are Hi-Res Audio certified. They work at 24 bit/96 kHz, extending the audio band up to 40 kHz.

The amplifiers are fully bridgeable and they have built in RTA capability.

The first Forza model will ship later this summer.  It is Audison’s most powerful 5-channel DSP amp, delivering 100 watts RMS by 4 channels (at 4 ohms) plus 600 watts by 1 channel (2 ohms) with over 1200 watts RMS power available (Model AF M5.11).

Other DSP amplifiers in the new line will ship later this year including the AF C8.9 bit and the M12.14 bit (with a C4.10 bit and M8.14 bit to follow).  Also shipping this year are the four companion, non-DSP amps–M6 D, the M4 D, the C4 D, and the M1 D.

DSP amplifiers use Audison’s new bit Drive software with more advanced tools, but which will have a familiar user interface to an Audison dealer, Ward said. This is the software which is going to control our future products its designed to be futureproof.”

Power output in the line is as follows:

AF M5.11 bit 5CH AMPLIFIER WITH DSP 4x150W+1x600W
AF C8.14 bit 8 CH AMPLIFIER WITH DSP 8x100W
AF M12.14 bit 12CH AMPLIFIER WITH DSP 12x90W

AF M4D 4CH AMPLIFIER 4x260W
AF M6D 6 CH AMPLIFIER 6x220W
AF C4.10 bit 4CH AMPLIFIER WITH DSP 4x150W
AF M8.14 bit 8 CH AMPLIFIER WITH DSP 8x140W
AF M1D MONO AMPLIFIER 1x1000W
AF C4D 4 CH AMPLIFIER 4x150W
