Given Shortages, PowerBass Does This

Since it’s so difficult to get production in car audio, PowerBass is turning some of its attention to providing smaller portables that are simpler to produce during this period of shortages.

“We’re focusing on things we can either source or produce quickly,” said VP of Product Development & Global Marketing, Erik Harbour.  “Smaller electronics seem to be a bit easier to produce, so now it’s time to focus on projects that I thought were secondary and bring some new things to the market,” he added.

The company brought out a portable Bluetooth speaker about three years ago and is now offering a few updated models.  The first is a BT50 cube Bluetooth streaming speaker with True Wireless Stereo (TWS) capability (it uses Bluetooth signals instead of wires or cables to transfer sound). Users can link two cubes together.  The cube is IPX7 waterproof for the beach and includes an FM radio, SD card slot and mic (so users can take calls using the cube as a speaker).  Suggested retail price is $49.99 with shipping by Black Friday.

Also new is a BT200 model called the SPLIT. It’s a can-style portable Bluetooth, TWS speaker that can split into a left and right speaker for true stereo with 30 feet of range between the split pair. It’s covered in a rubber bumper, and it is IPX7 rated.  Users can bring the SPLIT to work and separate the speakers on a desk and then snap them together to carry home. Shipping was expected for Black Friday at $129.99.

In the powersports audio arena, PowerBass is developing a Jeep OE Direct Fit plug and play audio replacement series due in March.
