BMW Cancel CarPlay Fees

BMW will no longer charge extra for CarPlay, according to reports.

This summer, it began charging $80 per year for CarPlay, and prior to that it charged a $300 lifetime fee.

BMWblog, an enthusiast news site, said, “Naturally, there are still many unanswered questions, such as possible refunds for people that have already paid for the service, or customers who have opted out of Apple CarPlay after one year. BMW says that these cases will be handled market-by-market, but in the U.S., the BMW Customer Relations will contact the Apple CarPlay customers via email and present them with options.”

BMW still does not offer Android Auto. In fact, BMW and Lexus are the only major automakers who still don’t offer Android Auto, according to The Car Connection.
