Best Buy Fights Amazon With New Shipping Offer

Starting today, 99 percent of Best Buy customers will qualify for free next-day delivery on thousands of items. Heavier products like big screen TVs and refrigerators are excluded.  The program will run through December 25.

A $35 minimum purchase is required.

Those who live in a region where free next-day delivery isn’t available will still get free standard shipping.

Same day delivery is available in 42 metro areas when the order is completed before 3 pm local time or 2pm on Sundays.

Best Buy noted that store pickup remains a popular option as 40 percent of online sales are picked up at stores and 70 percent of Americans live within 10 miles of a Best Buy store. Best Buy also offers a curb side pickup program where the consumer need not leave the car.

In another holiday program, Best Buy is discounting its tech support program.  Starting October 27,  current Total Tech Support members can save $50 off the regular price of $199 when they buy Total Tech Support as a gift.  Total Tech Support allows free installation and repair of many tech products including car audio products:

  • Car Radio Install
  • Car GPS Install/Setup
  • Car Amp Install
  • Car Speaker Install
  • Satellite Radio Install
  • Remote Start, Security
  • System or Keyless Entry Install

The program also offers 20 percent discounted installs on more advanced products including :

  • Advanced Marine/Motorcycle/Off-Road Vehicle/Golf
  • Cart Install (radio/speaker)
  • Advanced Car Component
  • Speaker Install

  1. I dunno, dude. Best Buy prices seem to be right in line with Crutchfield prices. They follow the MAP or whatever it’s called.. normal retail pricing across the board.

  2. You can choose to supply your own radio and installation parts and the installation service is (free) included under the terms of total tech support.

  3. Nothing is “free” the installation fee is just hidden in the cost of the product. A pioneer dvd player they sell for $249.99 is $100 more then local shops sell for $150 and charge $100 for install so the same $250.00. Nothing more than a gimmick like buy 3 get 1 free tires…
