Press Release (edited): SCOSCHE Industries announced two unique wireless charging mounts that solve some of the drawbacks to charging in a car environment.
The MagicGrip Charge
The car mount senses when a Qi-enabled device is perfectly aligned over its charging coil, which triggers the motorized arms to automatically close. Then it wirelessly charges the device as you drive. The ability to sense the proper alignment ensures that the device is properly charging.
The MagicGrip offers full 360-degree rotation, allowing users to view the device in landscape, portrait, or at any angle in between. With the phone held in place by the arms, it is free of any cables and impediments and can be turned with a distinct dial-like feel.
Another benefit of the MagicGrip is that while the device is held in place by the motorized arms, a thermal management channel is created between the phone and the Qi-charging head. This channel allows heated air to disperse and be replaced by cooler air during charging. Cooler charging is safer for the life of the device’s battery, as well as the device itself.
Qi-certified by the Wireless Power Consortium (WCP), the MagicGrip delivers up to 10W of charging power, supporting Apple and Samsung Fast Charge. Foreign Object Detection is built-in to protect the device by preventing charging if something other than a Qi-enabled device is placed on the charging head. An ambient light sensing LED light ring shines blue during normal charging but flashes red to indicate foreign object detection.
The MagicGrip Charge Wireless Charging Mount will be available Fall 2019.
MagicMount Charge3 Vent
Consumers like vent-mounted chargers, but there’s the problem of the device impeding heating and cooling airflow from those same vents.
Scosche created a solution, giving its Qi wireless charger, the MagicMount Charge3 Vent, an articulated swing-arm. It lets the air flow unimpeded and also provides 360 degree rotation. The articulated swing arm offers even more positioning options, including moving the phone completely away from the vent, while it is still anchored there.
Like the MagicGrip Charge, the vent-mounted Charge3 creates a thermal management gap between the phone and Qi charging head for cooler charging to protect the phone. Shipping is due Spring 2019.
