Feature Story:
Kenwood will display at the CES Show in Las Vegas this week two Hi-Res Audio amplifiers and two sets of Hi-Res Audio components.
New amplifiers include the XR901-5, a 5-channel amplifier rated at 60wx4 watt+ 400wx1 watt power at 4 ohms. The 2-inch high amplifier is 2-ohm stable with a frequency response of 20-50kHz from non-sub channels. It is joined by the XR401-4, a four-channel amplifier rated at 75wx4 watt power at 4 ohms; with the same frequency response. The amp measures 1 3/8-inches high and is 2-ohm stable. Both amps offers high-/low-pass filters and high/low inputs.
New component sets are:
- XR-1603HR: 6.5” midrange; 1” soft-dome tweeter; freq response 25Hz – 48kHz
- XR-1703HR: 6.75” midrange; 1” soft-dome tweeter; freq response 25Hz – 48kHz
These join six new Kenwood car audio receivers that support Hi-Res Audio including the new DNX995S, DDX9905S, DMX905S, DNX875S, DDX9705S, DMX7705S.
Also from Kenwood in 2018 is an upgrade to the XR600-6DSP, a 6-channel DSP/OEM amplifier, which now includes a harness that enables connection to any RCA-equipped receiver.
Additionally, Kenwood is showing dedicated subwoofer amplifiers that may be companions to its new Hi-Res Audio amplifiers:
- XR1001-1: 500wx1 at 4 ohms; 2-ohm stable, hi/low inputs, LP filter, wired remote; 2” high
- XR601-1” 400wx1 at 4 ohms; 2-ohm stable, hi/low inputs, LP filter, wired remote; 1 3/8” high
Other new products include:
- XR-W804 woofer: 300w power handling, single 4-ohm design, optimized magnet circuit for deep bass in a small enclosure; oversized diaphragm for better control, lower frequency response
- KSC-PSW8 powered subwoofer– 8-inch woofer; Class D amplifier; hi/low input; signal-sensing turn-on; LP filter; wired remote.
