A new aftermarket company will offer to car audio specialists luxury car-specific DVRs for Audi, Mercedes-Benz and others.

The new 12 volt specialty brand DriveAssist is also shipping automatic liftgates specific to many vehicles next month.

DriveAssist is a new division of Cybcar, a 10 year OE supplier of integration and navigation products. Its products will be on display at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas next week.

The new luxury model DVRs will ship shortly after the SEMA show for Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, MINI, Cadillac, and Ford vehicles.

The DVRs fit above the factory mirror, replacing the mirror shroud for a stealth installation so there’s no dangling wires.

Called the StealthVue, the DVR includes WiFi and a high resolution camera. It allows you to view DVR footage directly on your smartphone. There’s also an interface that also permits the viewing of DVR video directly on the car’s radio screen.

The StealthVue records continuously and has a G Sensor to mark any event or accident.  It will awake from sleep mode to record a hit to the car when parked.

The DVRs are designed to match the cars’ interior.  “With a car like a Mercedes, you don’t want something on your dashboard. But with this DVR, you’d never know it was in the car,” said VP Sales & Marketing Bob Goodman.

They include an 8GB SD card upgradeable to 128GB. They will be available at $249.95 suggested retail price.

Accompanying the StealthVue is an automatic Liftgate.  It replaces the struts on the vehicle to allow remote control of the liftgate in many vehicles.  With an optional module you can also open the liftgate simply by waving your foot under the bumper for handsfree control.

The DriveAssist Lift-EZ installs in 2 to 3 hours using OEM grade components and may be operated from the factory keyfob, said the company.  It works with vehicles from Toyota, Kia, Subaru, Ford, Honda, Chevrolet and even the Tesla Model S.

DriveAssist will offer a switch for the tailgate that may be installed in the dash or in the tailgate area.

The Lift-EZ integrates with the vehicle’s keyless entry system. Suggested retail price is $1099.

DriveAssist is introducing other products at the SEMA Show booth #11633 in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center including smart mirrors, cameras and blind spot detection systems.
