Apple plans to allow third parties to repair cracked iPhone screens by the end of the year, according to a report in Reuters.
Four hundred locations will be authorized in 25 countries and one of the first to be authorized is Best Buy, which already services Apple products.
Reuters says fixing cracked screens is a multi-billion dollar global business.
Repairs are made via a machine known as the “Horizon Machine” that is used exclusively in Apple stores and mail-in repair centers at present.
The shift in policy on the part of Apple comes as “right to repair” bills are pending in 8 states.
Apple has been testing the new third party repairs for a year.
