A new heads up display (HUD) that works with any car radio is expected from Boyo in the next 30 to 60 days.
Boyo (Vision Tech America) will release the Model VT-HUD1 heads up display with a video input to link to a car radio as well as WiFi to wirelessly link to a smartphone. The HUD can display a navigation map from your car radio or Waze from your phone.
It uses Miracast over WiFi to connect to your phone (iOS or Android) so anything on the phone can appear on the HUD.
The device resembles a Navdy in form factor. It sits on the dash and has a 6.2 inch screen that projects images on the windshield. It connects via USB cable to an OBD2 module and can show OBD2 data on the display such as speed, temperature and RPMs. Boyo says the HUD projects a clear image even in bright sunlight.
The VT-HUD1 also has gesture control so you can swipe to the left or right to change modes.
Inbound phone call information shows on the HUD but the device doesn’t include Bluetooth so you must take the call physically on the phone.
The unit also has built in speakers.
Users may also download HUD apps for the iPhone or Android phone for navigation, speed and compass, for use with the device.
Suggested retail price is $599.
